The "Did you know?" section on the home page displays a note that is designed to catch a user's attention and convey a simple message that may strike a chord. I've listed some sample notes we currently display below and attached an image showing the section.

Sample notes:

  1. If you have a 25 minute commute, you spend over 200 hours a year just commuting to work. At an average speed of 200 words per minute, you could read 20 novels over the year in that time.
  2. The average person spends over $7,500 a year on commuting expenses. Carpooling could save you half or more! That could get you 200 gourmet cheeseburgers or a trip to Paris for two!
  3. According to the American Lung Association, over 50% Americans and nearly 37 million children live in counties that have unhealthful levels of either ozone or particle pollution.

I wanted to check if there were ideas and interest in collaborating and adding more notes. I must call out that we may not be able to take all suggestions - but we can promise to review enthusiastically and carefully. So if you are interested, do respond. We'd love to hear from you.

Requirements of a note:

  • The note is generic and applicable throughout the country
  • The note is designed to be simple and understandable by a lay person not familiar to TDM
  • The note is a combination of text and an image
  • The text can be up to 1000 characters
  • The image can be up to 120 x 120 pixels
