iCarpool's New iPhone App Launched (Contents Moved from Previous Blog)

iPhone owners can now download iCarpool's new iPhone app. Using the app, they can:
> offer rides
> search for rides
> communicate to confirm a ride
> log in using their Facebook user id and password
> link to online sign up for RideshareOnline.com

In addition, the app uses real-time GPS location information to streamline ridematch searches. People who use this app in our region will join the Pacific Northwest's largest ridematching community (RideshareOnline.com, iGo, Totem Lake Green Trips, etc.). This will help increase membership, grow our ridematch database and boost the chances people will find suitable carpool and vanpool ridematches.

How much does this app cost?
Nothing. It's free.

How does this new app boost my local brand?
App users who are members of a network that has purchased full or express branding (e.g. Totem Lake Green Trips, iGo) will see both their logo and the iCarpool logo after they sign on to the app. Pacific Northwest app users who are not members of these types of networks will see a RideshareOnline logo. If you have already purchased full or express branding and would like your logo to appear in this app, please send a jpg of your 120x60 high resolution logo to [e-mail]. We'd love to get your logo in the app before we start promoting the app.

Search for iCarpool in iTunes or click on the download link.

What devices does this app work on?
Compatible with iPhone, iPod touch, and iPad. Requires iOS 4.2 or later.

Will this app be available for other phones?
Android and Windows Mobile versions of the app are slated for development later this year. Lessons we learn from iPhone app users will help iCarpool develop these apps and update the iPhone app. The faster you and others provide feedback, the faster developers can get to work on the Droid and Windows Mobile versions.

What a timely re-posting of this info.  Can you give me an update on the smart phone app?  Does it work as anticipated? Is it available for other smart phones besides iPhone?

The app is available only on the iPhone at this time. The iTunes store link in Stan's original post also has some information on the app (see the Feature Highlights section).
