iCarpool TripLogger Apps available on iOS and Android phones

We've recently released iCarpool TripLogger apps for iPhone and Android. The iCarpool TripLogger app can be used to log trips from your phone to your trip log calendar in the iCarpool-RideshareOnline platform. If you have set up a Trip Log Template, the app can also be used to confirm trips that are posted to your account based on the template.

iOS App
- You can download and install it by going to the App Store and searching for the term "iCarpool" and/or "TripLogger". Make sure you install the "TripLogger" app from iCarpool as there is another app from iCarpool in the App Store and there are other TripLogger apps that do not link with the iCarpool-RideshareOnline platform and do different things.
- The iOS App requires iOS 5.0 or later. It is compatible with iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch.
- The link to the iOS app is here: iCarpool TripLogger. You'll also find documentation about the features of the app there.

Android App
- You can download and install it by going to the Play Store and searching for the term "iCarpool" and/or "TripLogger". Make sure you install the "TripLogger" app from iCarpool as there are other TripLogger apps that do not link with the iCarpool-RideshareOnline platform and do different things.
- The Android App requires Android 4.0 or above. It is compatible with phones and tablets.
- The link to the Android app is here: iCarpool TripLogger. You'll also find documentation about the features of the app there.

Apart from the documentation and screen shots already available in the App Store and the Play Store, I've included a few notes about the apps that might be helpful for Admins.

  1. The user must be registered using any portal linked with the iCarpool-RideshareOnline platform.
  2. The phone app requires the user to login for the first time. The user should enter the same credentials they use for the iCarpool-RideshareOnline platform. After that, the app remembers the user.
  3. A common problem is users don't remember to visit the website periodically and log trips there. If they have installed the app, the app sends push notifications that are reminders to log trips OR to confirm trips posted to the account via Trip Log Templates. The current setting for the push notifications is one reminder in two weeks if any of these conditions are met (a) the user has not logged any trip for the past two weeks OR (b) the user has trips pending confirmation posted to the account via Trip Log Templates. The push notifications go out only on Tuesday and Thursday between 3PM and 5PM. The first push notification after you install the app may come sooner than two weeks.
  4. Trip Log Templates provide a big advantage with the app. If templates are set up, users could use the "Confirm All" option which is one click to log all trips.
  5. Data connectivity is required for the app. The internet must be accessible to use the app.

We would appreciate receiving your reviews and feedback directly via the Play Store or the App Store. If you need help or have suggestions you could also reach out to support@rideshareonline.com. Also when promoting the app - it would be great if users could be encouraged to provide reviews and/or feedback.

Great news! Been looking forward to the app launch for a while. Thanks, Amol!

Can't wait to check it out. Thanks Amol

Instead of referring people to the DriveLessSaveMore website, can you refer them to DriveLessConnect.com?

It is not possible to direct the user to any other site apart from the web application at this time.

The TripLogger app is a small subset of the features that the web application provides. The Help screen directs the users to the web application to access features outside the app. We can do this because we know about the web application - it is a domain of the format <somedomain>.icarpool.com. But we don't know about the website or websites that link to the web application. There is an advantage in the current approach in that users can directly go to the web application, login and use the function. The downside is to go to the main website, they may have to click on another link. Most web application portals have links to the website.

Here is the actual text of the notifications that are sent. There is also a button next to the notification.

1. You have unconfirmed trip(s). It just takes a few seconds to confirm trips and you could be well on your way to earn incentives! <Confirm Button>.

2. You have not logged any trips in the past few days. It's easy to log trips and you might qualify for incentives! <Log Button>

There's one more tool for the admins that I wanted to include in my post above. In the User Registration Report, there are 2 new fields.

  • Last Web Access Date - This field indicates the last time the user accessed the website.
  • Last Mobile Access Date - This field indicates the last time the user accessed the mobile app.

So if you want to push communication to users who are only using mobile apps, you could generate the report and filter based on the Last Mobile Access Date and send to only those select email addresses.

Amol,

Will there be a ridematching app soon?

I have a 2 part answer to this question.

  1. We already have an iPhone Ridematching App. The link to that is here: iPhone Ridematching. Note - we will be pushing out some minor updates to the iPhone Ridematching App over the next few weeks, so stay tuned for that.
  2. We are working on other ridematching apps that enable some additional "real-time" scenarios. These will be available on Android, iOS and potentially Windows Phone. This effort will take longer (next few months) and I will post information on that as it becomes available.

How about ridematching app for Android?

We don't have a Ridematching App for Android at this time.

I know. Do you know when you will?

I don't have a schedule at this time for the when the Android app will be released.
