Updates – Promotions
Oregon will be promoting Driveless Connect and the Triplogger App at Mount Hood Ski Resort at their sustainability event today(?) at 3pm.
Pierce Transit is promoting 1st month free or $100 gift card for new vanpools.
Washington – no summer promotions this August. Wheel Options will run this year with a “Choose Your Own Adventure” theme where the winner can choose where they want to go for their prize.
Instant Ridematch App and impacts on platform
iCarpool has changed branding to SmartRideShare several months ago. SmartRideshare is their ridematching platform. iCarpool refers to the carpool matching app that was just released. Drivers offer rides and riders can book rides with them. This happens in real time using GPS – carpools can be found in minutes. App is available for smartphones only, it is not available on a website. iCarpool is actively recruiting drivers to populate the app with rides for users. Users need to link their iCarpool account with their Rideshareonline.com account to calendar their iCarpool trips. Trips logged through the iCarpool app are categorized as “Verified Carpool” trips, as opposed to just ‘Carpool’. Using the iCarpool app on your smartphone is the only way to calendar “Verified Carpools”. When managing or creating an incentive you will now see “Verified Carpool” as an option. If you check this option, the other modes become unavailable.
Q. If Verified Carpool is checked are other modes available for the incentive?
A. No – the integration is designed to capture only Verified Carpool through the iCarpool app.
If the user account is not linked to their iCarpool app there is no way to retroactively log Verified Carpool trips. Users need to link to their RSO account before riding. Users link their account in their Profile > My Account. Click on Link Accounts at the bottom of the screen.
Q. Is iCarpool app only for ridesharing or can you log other trips as well? Does it replace the Trip Logger app?
A. No – iCarpool is for Verified Carpool only. It does not have other modes nor does it replace the Trip Logger app.
iCarpool app is only being promoted in WA in and around Seattle at this time.
Q. When will it launch in other regions?
A. Not sure – launching in Seattle first and will go from there
