If you are interested we just finished up our final report for our Destination Downtown 2012 pilot outreach program. I have attached a copy of the report and below are some quick snapshots of the results:
Outreach for the pilot program commenced in April 2012, with the project team engaging 140 businesses and 325 individuals in the first year program. Destination Downtown garnered 235 participants – who registered and tracked their commute trips online in order to earn rewards – and distributed 225 personalized Commute Kits – customized packets of transportation information delivered by foot or by bicycle.
Results from pre- and post-program participant surveys indicate that the drive-alone commute mode share decreased 8.0 percentage points for reporting program participants.
Walking increased 1.7 percentage points, transit increased 3.9 percentage points, and the carpooling mode share rose 4.2 percentage points
Post-program surveys revealed a high degree of participant satisfaction with the program:
89% of participants were satisfied with the Destination Downtown program
84% indicated that the program encouraged them to visit downtown locations
62% stated that the information they received helped them reduce drive-alone trips
37% indicated that they are driving alone to work less often compared to six months ago
85% want to see the program continued in the future
