While completing the registration process, one of the required fields is an employer/institution address.  Folks that don't have an employer or institution are dumbfounded at this point and we've heard that some have abandoned the process at this point.

As a workaround we instructed people to use their home address as the destination as well.  Are there other methods for addressing this?

Hi Phil,

See the attached image below. The employer is required if the user is coming in for commute ride matching or for recording trip logs. If the user doesn't have an employer - they are probably coming in for personal trips or SchoolPool. In that case, they could ensure appropriate check boxes are selected (so deselect the top 2 checkboxes and they would not need to enter the employer). So you could consider using that as your instruction - to deselect the two checkboxes at the top.

Hi Amol,

I know this sounds like a stupid question, but does deselecting those boxes still gives the user full usage of the system, or is, for instance, the calendar disabled if the "I am here to record my trips" box is unchecked?

That is a great question as we do have campaigns that are community wide which include personal trips and have incentives tied to them.

That's a great question. The functionality is not disabled in any way - the user still has full access to the appropriate module even if the box is unchecked.

The difference is when the user selects the checkbox for commute ride matching - we include a "Get Started" message for ride matching  on the home page until the user posts a ride matching trip. Similarly, if the user selects the calendar checkbox - we include a "Get Started" message for the calendar until the user posts a trip to the calendar. The "Get Started" basically points the user to the next step.

Thank you for clearing that up.
